Material Requirement Planning (MRP) via Microsoft Dynamics Project Management & Accounting.

As a Financial Accountant, I have witnessed a significant shift in my approach to Supply Chain Management (SCM) over the past two years. The integration of SCM and Project Management & Accounting (PMA) on Microsoft Dynamics 365 has been transformative.

Lately, my focus has been on implementing PMA and delving into Master Requirement Planning (MRP) discussions daily, particularly within the Manufacturing/Production & Assembly Plants.

When it comes to client requirements, there are two distinct strategies to consider:

– Manufacturing an item and incorporating it into the Project, where inventory is expensed against the Project. This method ensures that items produced are not available for other uses, making it ideal for specific customer orders or capitalizing on items post-production.

Select a Project you want to run MRP against> Go to Plan> Create your Item requirements
Click NEW> Populate the Item you want to Manufacture/Produce
Go to Manage> Inquiries> Net Requirements to run MRP (Master Requirement Planning)
Run Master Requirement Planning
Select to Include all BOM Levels needed to Manufacture/Produce the Item Required
The results will show the Planned works order(s) needed for Manufacturing/Producing the Item Required above
Firm the Planned works order to START the Manufacturing/Production schedule

Manufacture items for a specific Campaign/Product Line and track everything against that Campaign/Product Line as a Project but leave the item in stock when production ends.

Select a Project you want to link MRP but leave the Manufactured item in stock> Go to Manage> New> Item Task
Select Works Order
Create Works Order for an Item Required
You will see the Project Financial Dimension are linked to the is works order
Works Order are Ready> you start Manufacturing Process from here and will populate the required BOM set against the Item Required.
